The 2025 Australian Yarn Show agenda features an exciting range of workshops designed to inspire, educate and connect yarn enthusiasts of all levels.
From Friday March 7th to Sunday March 9th, we will have over 20 workshops available to choose from, all taking place at Hotel Realm in Canberra over the weekend of the 2025 Australian Yarn Show.
These workshops will be led by some of the most talented names in the industry. Whether you’re eager to try your hand at botanical knitting, learn advanced techniques in Tunisian crochet or master lace shawl knitting, there’s something for everyone.
We’re honoured to collaborate with expert crafters such as Abbeymade, Dianne Conroy, Francie Goudie, Jane Slicer-Smith, Jenny King, Pru Raymond, Sue Brown and Tess Vandekolk to bring you this incredible line-up.

- 09 Mar 2025, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm AEDTLearn the fundamentals of crocheting jewellery. Experiment with beads and embellishments and play with unique design techniques. Learn to create one-of-a-kind statement pieces to freshen up your wardrobe.
- 09 Mar 2025, 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm AEDTFeeling intimidated by cables? You won’t be after this class. Learn how to read cable charts, written instructions and make a little coffee cozy at the same time!
Workshops start at $125pp. This includes morning or afternoon tea, including something light to eat as well as tea and coffee. You will also receive a VIP two-day pass to the Australian Yarn Show which gives you access to the market hall as well as the main stage for the talks, panel discussions and demonstrations.
Some workshops will require you to bring your own materials. Some will be provided as part of your ticket. This detail will be available on the booking page once tickets go on sale and will be included on your ticket and in a reminder email a few days prior to the Show commencing. The booking page will also provide you more details about the skills you will learn in each workshop as well as how many other participants will join you in your class.
Friday workshop participants should note that there is NO market hall or main stage open on Friday. You will still, however, receive a two-day pass to the Saturday and Sunday of the Show.

- 09 Mar 2025, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm AEDTBegin your love affair with Stranded Colourwork knitting. This workshop is designed by Pru Raymond as an introduction to this popular colourwork technique also known as Fair Isle.
- 09 Mar 2025, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm AEDTLearn the basics of Tunisian Crochet including understanding the purpose of different hooks, exploring Tunisian crochet anatomy, managing tension, selecting the right yarn and hooks and addressing the challenge of curling.
- 09 Mar 2025, 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm AEDTExplore this technique from beginning to end with nothing but a Tunisian crochet hook and two colours of yarn. Tunisian mosaic patterns do not change colours mid row, and there is no carrying of floats along the back of the work.
